The Benefits of Rendering
External rendering is a great way to improve the overall look and feel of your property, especially if your external walls have become damaged over time due to exposure to the elements. External rendering with insulated rendering can also massively increase the thermal efficiency of your home and your walls. As well as windows and doors, walls account for up to 30% of heat loss in your home. So, rendering makes your property more efficient and significantly saves you money on energy bills.
Exposed brickwork can also be one of the main causes of penetrating damp within a property. A solid layer of rendering is an extra layer of defence against elemental damage, which can then cause this issue. Penetrating damp can cause a wide range of costly issues, so rendering (should your walls be appropriate for rendering) can protect you from this risk.
For older homes, you have to opt for internal and external insulation, you are not able to simply blow in cavity wall insulation into the wall cavities as these were not constructed in older homes. This is where you can use external wall insulation with rendering to keep heat in and save money on your energy bills. This allows you to make a return on your investment over only a few years after installation has taken place.
Domestic Rendering
We are expert renderers for domestic properties, and we provide extensive rendering services for homeowners. We understand that insulation and the appearance of your property are of the utmost importance, and we have a range of finishes available to help you create a new design for the front of your property or match the style of the property to the letter. If your external walls look like they need a bit of TLC, then rendering is the perfect way to enhance your walls. You can save significant amounts on your energy bills with insulated rendering for older homes, so if you are experiencing these issues, get in touch to arrange for a free quote.
Commercial and Industrial Rendering
Commercial and industrial buildings will also suffer from the same issues as homes over time. As a business owner, you may also be looking for ways to reduce energy bills to cut costs, especially with large commercial and industrial operations. We have worked extensively with commercial and industrial clients to upgrade their commercial buildings and increase their overall insulation.

Additional Ways to Increase Insulation
External rendering can be combined with other products to increase the overall insulation of the building. Consider upgrades such as loft insulation, new windows and doors and upgrading your heating systems to maximise the overall efficiency of the property. Government incentives are constantly being developed to ensure that new buildings reach regulations, and the government has schemes available to invest in the overall insulation of your home, which can offset the costs alongside our finance solutions.
Render FAQs
Rendering uses a special mortar blend mix called render, which is then used to create smooth finishes for external walls. This is a mixture of cement, water and fine aggregate. We work with the leading providers of rendering products to provide you with the highest quality render and finish. We have a wide range of finishes available to match the style of your property or achieve a new style if you so wish.
Insulated rendering is specifically designed to protect your walls from environmental elements and increase the overall efficiency of your home. You lose around 30% of all heat from your walls, so investing in rendering will save you significant amounts on your energy bills, especially when combined with other insulation methods and products.
If your walls look damaged or you have chipped or damaged old render, then you will likely need a repair or an entire replacement. In most cases, it’s very obvious that your walls are looking tired or damaged and require rendering. If your property isn’t insulated and you find that your walls are one of the main sources of this issue, then it’s probably time to consider an upgrade.
If you have older properties, especially built in the 1910s and beyond, then external rendering is highly popular for these types of properties. These homes will not have adequate insulation and will require insulated rendering to increase energy efficiency in many cases.
Rendering is appropriate for all types of walls, but you may not need it for modern buildings, and it depends on how the outside of your property is constructed. Typically, older structures will always be able to support rendering, but this will depend on how your building was constructed and the materials used. We can advise you on this during your free quote and whether your property is appropriate for our rendering services.
We will need clean walls that are free from dust and debris before the process can take place. Most systems require two coats, and we will assess your walls before we proceed to the rendering process. If any repairs are needed before we install your rendering, then we will advise you on this before proceeding with the works.
Depending on the weather conditions, it will take a few hours up to a few days for your render to become ‘touch-dry.’ We will carry out the rendering in weather conditions that are as favourable as possible. It’s important to bear in mind that it’s not ideal to carry out rendering in extremely hot or cold conditions. The most ideal conditions are mild and dry weather. From between 5 to 25 degrees.
Old render can be removed with simple tools such as a hammer and chisel. There are also specialist power tools that can be used to remove render should you require this or want to make the process faster. If you are unsure about removing the previous render, then we recommend that you speak with our team and leave it to the experts, as you need to avoid damaging the underlying surface.
